About Montnegre-Corredor Natural Park

Montnegre-Corredor Natural Park, located in the Catalonian Coastal Range northeast of Barcelona, covers a lush mountainous area characterized by Mediterranean forests and rugged terrain. Named after its two main mountain massifs, Montnegre and Corredor, the park preserves large expanses of holm oak and cork oak woods, pine forests, and diverse shrubland flora. Its varied topography includes gentle valleys, rocky outcrops, and scenic ridges that offer commanding views of the surrounding Costa Brava and the Mediterranean Sea. Ecologically, the park is home to numerous bird species such as peregrine falcons and Eurasian hoopoes, small mammals including wild boar and foxes, and rich plant communities adapted to the Mediterranean climate. Historically, the region showcases traditional Catalan rural heritage with old masias (farmhouses) and remnants of ancient paths and agricultural terraces. Outdoor recreation opportunities abound with more than 60 kilometers of marked hiking and mountain biking trails, ideal for exploring natural forests, waterfalls, and wildlife watching. Popular trails connect small villages like Sant Celoni and Arenys de Munt, facilitating both day trips and longer treks. Visitors are drawn to tranquil picnic areas, river gorges, and viewpoints including those at Turó de l'Home, one of the park's highest peaks. The park’s proximity to Barcelona makes it an accessible nature refuge for locals and tourists alike, combining ecological richness with cultural landscapes for an immersive outdoor experience.
